December 2020 Monthly Ride Report Recap

This month, the media reported on three (3) cases that have been recapped and recorded, as well as two cases from prior periods, previously not recapped.

03 December, at Efteling (Netherlands), a guest fell while traversing the loading turntable at a boat ride. The guest reported typically using a mobility scooter to the point of loading, but due to COVID-19 protocols, guests are required to walk across. Report

14 December, at a fair in Manises, Spain, the ride “Maxi Dance”, a horizontally revolving, multi-axial ride action, had a structural failure. Images appear to show a gondola torn off from the sweep. Two occupants of the gondola were injured but the harm was significantly mitigated by the failure occurring when the gondola was only 1m above the platform. Report

30 December, at a farm-stay operation in rural Australia, a five-year old boy fell from a kiddie roller coaster, sustaining multiple fractures. While most reports were unclear how he fell, one report described it as while unloading. Report | Report
